Welcome to the exciting and rewarding sport of gliding

Gliding is the ultimate flying experience. It meets the needs of a diverse group of people, a sport that can be enjoyed at all levels: from relaxation on a quiet local flight, to experiencing the thrills of soaring across the countryside, to the excitement of aerobatics, to the regional and international racing competitions. Gliding is also a sport for all ages - from those who go solo on their 15th birthday through middle age and into older age groups. There is no upper age limit and the sport is equally available and appealing to women and men.

Gliders soar using the same air currents that birds use to fly, but have also been designed with the kind of aerodynamic efficiency that enables top speeds of up to 300 kph. Distances of over 1200km have been covered in one day in Australia and heights of over 40,000 feet have been achieved. Gliding gives you the freedom to explore the world from a unique birds eye view whilst enjoying a safe and challenging sport.

Modern gliders are very sophisticated aircraft, manufactured with the latest composite materials and cockpits feature technology found in commercial aircraft.

The sport of gliding offers not only the exhilaration of free flight, but also a range of other challenges from instructing, engineering, coaching, meteorology, navigation and much more. For many it is the social aspects and camaraderie of the sport that provides the greatest attraction.
